FluZone Lawsuit
FluZone is an immunization against infections with influenza (“the flu”) viruses. Anyone who received FluZone and developed Guillain-Barré Syndrome (GBS) or a Shoulder Injury Related to Vaccine Administration (SIRVA) may be eligible to file a FluZone lawsuit.
Overview
FluZone® is a high-dose flu shot for seniors over 65 years old. It contains 3X the normal amount of flu virus proteins, which triggers a stronger immune response.
How is FluZone Given?
FluZone is given in a single 0.5-mL injection with a needle into the shoulder, near the deltoid muscle of the upper arm.
Can FluZone Cause SIRVA?
FluZone is injected with a needle. If the needle is injected improperly, too high, or too deep into the shoulder, FluZone can potentially cause a Shoulder Injury Related to Vaccine Administration (SIRVA).
Symptoms of SIRVA After FluZone Vaccine
- Arm pain
- Shoulder pain
- Intense, stabbing pain
- Shoulder dysfunction
- Limited range of motion
- Lack of flexibility
- Inflammation
Can FluZone Cause Guillain-Barré Syndrome (GBS)?
FluZone, like all flu shots, is linked to a rare but severe side effect called Guillain-Barré Syndrome (GBS).
GBS is a condition in which the immune system over-reacts to substances in the vaccine, triggering inflammation, nerve damage, and paralysis. The condition progresses rapidly for a few months. It can cause permanent disability, although most people recover.
FluZone Lawsuits
If you were diagnosed with Guillain-Barré Syndrome or a shoulder injury after receiving FluZone, you may be eligible to seek up to $250,000 by filing a claim with the Vaccine Injury Compensation Program (VICP).
What is the VICP?
The VICP is a federal program that has existed since the 1980s. It is funded by a $0.75 tax on the sale of every vaccine. The fund pays out millions of dollars every year to hundreds of people who inevitably suffer side effects of vaccines, such as GBS, SIRVA, or even death.
Over $70 Million Paid in SIRVA Lawsuits Since 2011
The average payout for a SIRVA lawsuit was $140,000, but the maximum is $250,000 per person. Since 2011, the VICP has paid out approximately $70 million to 500 people who with SIRVA from vaccines. Even more money has been paid out for other injuries.
