Overview

Flublok® is an egg-free flu vaccine for adults over 18 years old. Flublok Trivalent protects against 3 strains of influenza (“the flu”) and Flublok Quadrivalent protects against 4 strains of the flu virus.

How is Flublok Given?

Flublok is given in a single 0.5-mL injection with a needle into the upper arm — specifically the deltoid muscle over the shoulder.

Can Flublok Cause SIRVA?

Like all vaccines using needles, Flublok can potentially cause Shoulder Injury Related to Vaccine Administration (SIRVA) when it is injected too high or too deep. SIRVA causes pain, weakness, and limited flexibility.

Symptoms of SIRVA After Flublok Vaccine

  • Arm pain
  • Shoulder pain
  • Intense, stabbing pain
  • Shoulder dysfunction
  • Limited range of motion
  • Lack of flexibility
  • Inflammation

Can Flublok Cause Guillain-Barré Syndrome (GBS)?

Flublok can cause a rare side effect called Guillain-Barré Syndrome (GBS), a devastating disease that causes nerve damage, pain, weakness, and paralysis within a few weeks of receiving the vaccine. Most people recover from GBS within a few months, but some suffer from permanent disability.

If you were diagnosed with SIRVA or GBS after receiving Flublok, you may be able to file a claim with the Vaccine Injury Compensation Program (VICP). This program allows you to see up to $250,000 in compensation for your pain and suffering, disability, medical bills, and more.

What is the VICP?

Every year, the Vaccine Injury Compensation Program (VICP) pays out millions of dollars to hundreds of people who suffer the rare side effects of vaccines, such as shoulder injuries and GBS.

Over $70 Million Paid in SIRVA Lawsuits Since 2011

Since 2011, over 500 people with SIRVA and other shoulder injuries from vaccines have been paid roughly $70 million by the VICP. after receiving vaccines that are covered by the program.

People who developed Guillain-Barré Syndrome have also been paid millions of dollars in recent years after filing claims with the VICP.

The average settlement per SIRVA lawsuit is around $140,000, but the maximum payout is $250,000 for pain, medical costs, and disability.
