Overview
Flublok® is an egg-free flu vaccine for adults over 18 years old. Flublok Trivalent protects against 3 strains of influenza (“the flu”) and Flublok Quadrivalent protects against 4 strains of the flu virus.
How is Flublok Given?
Flublok is given in a single 0.5-mL injection with a needle into the upper arm — specifically the deltoid muscle over the shoulder.
Can Flublok Cause SIRVA?
Like all vaccines using needles, Flublok can potentially cause Shoulder Injury Related to Vaccine Administration (SIRVA) when it is injected too high or too deep. SIRVA causes pain, weakness, and limited flexibility.

Can Flublok Cause Guillain-Barré Syndrome (GBS)?
Flublok can cause a rare side effect called Guillain-Barré Syndrome (GBS), a devastating disease that causes nerve damage, pain, weakness, and paralysis within a few weeks of receiving the vaccine. Most people recover from GBS within a few months, but some suffer from permanent disability.
