Adacel Lawsuit
You or your child may be entitled to up to $250,000 from the Vaccine Injury Compensation Program if the Adacel vaccine caused a Shoulder Injury Related to Vaccine Administration (SIRVA).
Overview
Adacel® is a Tdap vaccine that helps protect children against infections with tetanus, diphtheria, and pertussis (whooping cough).
How is Adacel Given?
Adacel is given as a single 0.5-mL injection with a needle into the upper arm. Adacel is usually given when a child is 11 years old after they have completed the DTaP series of immunizations. Adacel can also be given to adults up to 64 years old, including pregnant women.
Can Adacel Cause SIRVA?
When Adacel is injected in the deltoid muscle of the upper arm, it can potentially cause Shoulder Injury Related to Vaccine Administration (SIRVA). This devastating injury is believed to occur when the vaccine needle is injected too high or too deep, and it accidentally damages sensitive tissues in the shoulder. It can cause permanent shoulder pain, muscle weakness, and limited range of movement.
Symptoms of SIRVA After Adacel Vaccine
- Arm pain
- Shoulder pain
- Intense, stabbing pain
- Shoulder dysfunction
- Limited range of motion
- Lack of flexibility
- Inflammation
Adacel Lawsuits
Adacel vaccines only rarely cause SIRVA, but this side effect can cause permanent disability. If you or your child was diagnosed with a shoulder injury after receiving Adacel, you may be interested in filing a lawsuit with the Vaccine Injury Compensation Program (VICP). You may be eligible for up to $250,000 in financial payment for Adacel SIRVA vaccine injuries.
What is the VICP?
Congress created the Vaccine Injury Compensation Program (VICP) in the 1980s to protect pharmaceutical companies from vaccine lawsuits, while also providing payments to people who inevitably developed rare side effects like SIRVA from vaccines such as Adacel.
Over $70 Million Paid in SIRVA Lawsuits Since 2011
The fun is funded by a $0.75 tax on the sale of every vaccine sold in America. Since 2011, around $70 million has been paid to over 500 people who developed SIRVA after receiving vaccines like Adacel.
SIRVA Settlements & Payouts
The average settlement per SIRVA lawsuit is around $140,000, but the maximum payout is $250,000 for pain, medical costs, and disability.
